Suggested Palettes
How to use it
- Type or paste a color, or pick one with the color picker.
- Read the value in each format and press its copy button.
- Use the contrast checker to test the color as text or background.
- Try the suggested palettes for matching colors.
OKLCH and LCH describe color by lightness, chroma and hue, so equal steps in lightness look more even than they do in HSL.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which color formats can I enter?
HEX, rgb(), hsl(), hwb(), lab(), lch(), oklch() and cmyk(). You can also use the color picker or the random color button.
What do the contrast ratings mean?
The checker compares your color with white and black using the WCAG formula. 4.5:1 passes AA for normal text, 3:1 passes AA for large text and 7:1 passes AAA.
Is CMYK accurate for printing?
No. The CMYK value is a simple mathematical conversion from RGB. Printers use color profiles, so printed results will differ.
Where does the color name come from?
From the color.pizza API. The tool sends the HEX value of your color to api.color.pizza and shows the closest name it returns. All other conversions happen in your browser.
Can I share a color?
Yes. The page address updates with the current color, so you can copy the link.
